Columbus native and NASCAR champion Tony Stewart visits with Cummins employees Thursday.

Columbus native and three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart visited two Cummins facilities in Columbus this week as part an effort by the company to thank employees for their work and dedication during the pandemic.

The NASCAR Hall-of-Famer visited the Cummins Mid-Range Engine Plant, 2725 W. County Road 450S, and the Cummins Machine Integration Center, 6880 S. International Drive, where he greeted employees, signed autographs, spoke and toured the facilities, Cummins officials said.

Stewart spoke to all first- and third-shift employees at Cummins Mid-Range Engine Plant before moving on to the Cummins Machine Integration Center, company officials said.

Some Cummins leaders helped lead the event and spoke with employees, including Srikanth Padmanabhan, vice president and president of Cummins’ engine business, and and Jane Beaman, general manager of Cummins’ pickup business.

About 950 people work at Cummins Mid-Range Engine Plant, and about 250 work at the Cummins Machine Integration Center, company officials said.
