NORTH VERNON — Brad Bender retired from FPBH, Inc. on March 31.
He was a key element in FPBH becoming one of the leaders in civil engineering consulting and land surveying in southeast Indiana. He represented FPBH as North Vernon’s city engineer for more than 25 years and is a member of the Jennings County Economic Development’s Hall of Fame.
Bender joined Bob Fewell at FPBH in January 1991. Bob Fewell founded the company in 1972. FPBH is planning a celebration in May for its 50th anniversary.
Bender began his career by managing the FPBH office located at 138 E. Walnut St. in downtown North Vernon. Bob Fewell was the lone professional engineer and professional surveyor. Bender helped grow the company from fewer than five on staff in 1991, and was a key figure in the company’s move to its current location at 72 Henry St.
The company has offices in Seymour and New Castle as well as the North Vernon corporate headquarters.
FPBH currently has five licensed engineers, a licensed surveyor, and approximately 20 professional employees on their staff.
Shane Spicer, P.E., will be taking over as operations manager at FPBH. Spicer joined FPBH in October 2020. Spicer is an environmental and structural engineer with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in structural engineering, both from the University of Louisville. Dan Wright will continue to operate as the CEO for the company.
