Zita K. Buiting

COLUMBUS

Zita K. Buiting of Columbus, Indiana and formerly Brownsburg, Indiana and Ottawa, Illinois, passed away April 26, 2022.

Zita blessed this world and her parents, Georg and Jospha (Jettenberger) Freyberger on September 1, 1935 in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany.

She married William and immigrated to the United States in 1959, making their home in Wilmington, Delaware; Midland, Michigan; Ottawa, Illinois and Brownsburg, Indiana.

She graduated from Illinois Valley Community College’s nursing program and was employed by both Ottawa General Hospital and Ottawa Community Hospital. She then nursed 30 years at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.

She was a devoted child of God at St. Columba (Ottawa), St. Malachy (Brownsburg), St. Anthony’s (Indianapolis), Mary Queen of Peace (Danville, IN) and St. Bartholomew (Columbus).

She leaves behind a sister, Marlis Schrotter, Sons Michael (Patti) and Christopher, daughter Zita (James) Moore, Grandchildren Bethany (Christopher) Hologa, Zita Buiting, Micheal (Macy) Moore, Brittany (Steven) Rieser, Pawnee (Eric) Kingfisher, and Willis Crabtree, as well as 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and grandchildren, Sarah Moore.

A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, April 30 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus, IN and will be live casted on the church’s website: www.saintbartholomew.org and clicking on “Watch Mass Live” for those unable to attend in person.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to either the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692; the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or through the funeral home.
