COLUMBUS, Ind. — Prom returned to downtown Columbus this past weekend, with families gathering to take pictures as students rolled down Washington Street in their cars and then walked down a red carpet to enter the event.
The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. held its 2022 prom at The Commons Saturday night. The theme was “Destination Prom.” Prom committee head Tonya Cruser said that over 1,200 students attended the dance.
According to BCSC officials, the following students were voted prom king and queen for their respective schools:
- Columbus East: Noah Lykins and Gabi Schuetz
- Columbus North: Reese Kilbarger-Stumpff and Sarah Bennett
- CSA New Tech: Stephen Ross and Piper Parks
After dancing the night away at The Commons, students were invited to keep the fun going at Turning Point Domestic Violence Service’s “Dance Marathon: After Prom Party” at Central Middle School that same night. The event was a combination of Turning Point’s annual Dance Marathon event — which raises awareness about dating violence and promotes healthy relationships — and an after prom previously organized by the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department for BCSC students.
