Randy Kimery

Randall “Randy” Lee Kimery, 69, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. He was born in Marion County, Indiana, the son of Delbert Dale and Carla (Bud) Wimmenauer. He was adopted by Don Kimery in 1960. Randy graduated from Southport High School in 1971.

Randy met his wife Lois at Northwood Institute of Indiana where he studied hotel &restaurant management. They married in 1974.

He was the recipient of a donated kidney in 2003. He, his family, and friends felt blessed to have those extra years together.

Randy enjoyed woodworking, spelunking, cooking, watching and playing a variety of sports, cracking jokes, laughing, and posting funny memes on Facebook.

He attended First Christian Church. He worked for many years at Sears. After leaving Sears he created Kimery’s Creations turning beautiful pens, bowls, and other unique wood items. He and Lois would attend art fairs making his products available. He enjoyed meeting the public.

Randy is survived by his wife of 47 years; mother; a son, Jason (Mel) Kimery; daughter, Jenifer (David) DeForest; brother, Greg (Carol) Dale; brother, Doug (Louann) Dale; brother, Roger (Dawn) Kimery. Randy is survived by four grandchildren who affectionally called him “Papaw.”

Randy was preceded in death by his father and adoptive father, and two sisters.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 11, 2022, at First Christian Church, 531 5th Street, Columbus, Indiana with calling from noon to 1 p.m. with the service at 1 p.m. Randy was a fun-loving guy and would want this service to be a true celebration. If attending, please consider wearing a bright color.
