Jets split pair

BROOKVILLE — Class A No. 3 Hauser bounced back from a 5-4 loss to 2A co-No. 4 Union County with a 12-0, six-inning win against Salem in Saturday’s Franklin County Tournament.

Maley Jordan went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs, and Hannah Taylor went 2 for 4 against Union County.

Taylor went 4 for 4 with a double, a home run and five RBIs for the Jets (17-3-1) against Salem. Kenze Bostic went 2 for 2 with a double, Kaydence Gates went 2 for 2 and Lucie Asher went 2 for 5. Paige McDaniel and Gates combined on a four hitter.

Olympians fall twice

GREENFIELD — Columbus East dropped a pair of games in Saturday’s Greenfield-Central Tournament, falling to Greeenfield 14-3 in five innings and Frankton 18-2 in five innings.

Kaylee Cole went 2 for 3 against Greenfield. Kenzie Foster went 2 for 3, and Addy Ross went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs against Frankton for the Olympians (6-16-1).

Pirates sweep Panthers

CHARLESTOWN — Jennings County dropped a pair of close games Saturday at Charlestown, falling 4-2 and 7-6.

Abby McDonald went 3 for 3, and Delaynee McCreary went 2 f0r 4 with two home runs and four RBIs in the second game for the Panthers (9-16).

BOYS GOLF

Bull Dogs finish ninth

LEBANON — Columbus North finished ninth with a a 323 in Saturday’s Brownsburg Invitational at The Trophy Club. Bloomington South won with a 292.

Tyler Wilks led the Bull Dogs with a 76. Luke Schneider added a 77, Jack Schiavello and Willy Davis each shot 85 and Aditya Banerjee had an 88.

Eagles ninth in WIC

GOSPORT — Brown County recorded its best 18-hole score of the season and finished ninth with a 375 in Saturday’s Western Indiana Conference Tournament at Rolling Meadows. Greencastle won with a 308.

Cooper VanNess led the Eagles with an 83 to earn All-Conference honors. Kody Walsh carded a 96, Clay Austin added a 97, Eli Sichting shot 99 and Wesley Arndt had a 105.

GIRLS TENNIS

Two Lancers victorious

HOPE — Edinburgh’s Bethany Burton won the No. 1 singles bracket, and Peyton Bryant took the No. 3 singles bracket in Saturday’s Mid-Hoosier Conference individual tournament.

Hauser’s Gabby Johns and Charlie Clark at No. 1 doubles and Lydia Jordan at No. 3 singles finished second in their respective brackets. Addyson Barriger made the semifinals at No. 2 singles.

Eagles win title share

BRAZIL — Brown County claimed a share of the WIC championship with a 4-1 win against Northview on Friday night.

Anna Stogsdill beat Sierra Paul 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Anna Tipton topped Sydney Maurer 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) at No. 2 singles for the Eagles (10-8, 7-1). Katie Tipton and Mary Rygiel downed Brooklyn Bussing and Layla Lee 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Abie Bowman and Julia Burt defeated Violet Keith and Jinna Hyatt 7-6 (4), 6-7 (3), 7-6 (6)at No. 2 doubles.

Brown County’s Mattie Satter fell to Martina Southerland 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 singles.

BASEBALL

Cubs blank Olympians

Columbus East was limited to two hits Saturday in a 5-0 loss to Madison.

Harry Major and Blake Borkhardt had the hits for the Olympians (9-13-1). Major and Ethan Ianni combined on a seven-hitter.

Bulldogs top Panthers

NORTH VERNON — A day after falling to New Albany in the Hoosier Hills Conference title game, Jennings County fell to the Bulldogs 18-6 on Saturday.

Jacob Vogel had a double and three RBIs for the Panthers (16-9).

Cougars no-hit Eagles

ODON — Class A No. 9 North Daviess scored six times in the first inning and went on to hand Brown County a 14-0, five-inning defeat.

The Eagles (1-12) were held without a hit.
