INDOT to close section of Hawcreek Boulevard Thursday night

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors LP plans to close a section of Hawcreek Boulevard overnight Thursday in Columbus. The road will close at approximately 6 p.m. between 25th Street and U.S. 31 to perform approach repairs. Hawcreek Boulevard is expected to reopen by 8 a.m. Friday morning. Drivers may notice delays to the traffic signal at the intersection during this time.

The repairs are part of a $5.7 million asphalt resurface project that began last month between Washington Street and Base Road. Motorists should expect both day and nighttime lane closures to continue along this section of U.S. 31 as crews remove and replace curb ramps, in addition to patching, milling and paving.

The contract was awarded to Milestone in March and has a completion date of Oct. 30. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
