COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus police officers arrested a local man on felony charges as a result of a child molestation investigation.

Earlier this month, CPD officers responded to a Columbus mobile home park in regards to a molestation incident that previously occurred, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

As a result of the investigation, detectives believe that the juvenile victim was molested on a number of occasions over a period of several years.

At the conclusion of the investigation, officers arrested Christopher D. Lumpkins, 54, of 3207 Sycamore Drive, Columbus, Harris said.

He was incarcerated at the Bartholomew County Jail on May 12, and CPD detectives later presented their case to the Bartholomew County Prosecutors Office.

The prosecutor’s office filed three felony charges of child molestation against Lumpkins, one Level 1 felony and two level 4 felonies, court records state.

Lumpkins remains incarcerated in jail in lieu of $800,000.00 bond, jail officials said.
