East downs Franklin

FRANKLIN — Columbus East pounded out 15 hits Friday in posting a 12-4 win at Franklin.

Will Rieckers went 3 for 4 with two doubles, and Josh Luedeke went 3 for 5 with two doubles and four RBIs for the Olympians (11-14-1). Blake Borkhardt went 2 for 4 with two doubles, and Harry Major and Ethan Ianni each went 2 for 4.

Ianni picked up the win, allowing six hits and three runs and striking out 13 in six innings.

Lancers sweep Eagles

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh swept a doubleheader from Brown County winning 19-9 and 11-1, both in six innings.

Colin Richardson went 2 for 2 with three RBIs, Gabe Bennett went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Riley Palmeter went 2 for 4 and Jarrett Turner had a home run and three RBIs in the opener for the Lancers. Mikey Kobernick went 2 for 3 for the Eagles.

Landen Burton went 2 for 4 for the Lancers in the second game (7-15). Bennett and Ian Buchanan combined on a three-hitter.

Warriors top Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County outhit Scottsburg 13-11, but the Warriors pulled out a 7-5 victory in 11 innings.

Logan McIntosh went 3 for 5 with a triple for the Panthers (17-10). Carson McNulty went 2 for 4, Lane Zohrlaut went 2 for 5 with two doubles, Jacob Vogel went 2 for 5 with a double and Austin Byford went 2 for 6.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Panthers win sectional

BEDFORD — Jennings County claimed the Bedford North Lawrence Sectional. The Panthers racked up 124 points to 92 for runner-up Springs Valley and 85 for third-place Seymour.

Kraedyn Young led the Panthers with wins in the 1,600 meters (4 minutes, 28.98 seconds) and 800 (2:04.98). Evan Sochacki took the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches), and Jennings captured the 4×800 relay (8:34.37).

Also qualifying automatically with top-three finishes were Cole Marksberry with a second in the 300 hurdles (41.91) and third in the 110 hurdles (15.76), Brenden Baker with a second in the 800 (2:05.46), Eli Wahlman with a second in the 3,200 (10:24.76), Peyton Hayden with a third in the shot put (43-4 3/4), Lane Elsner with a third in the 400 (51.58) and Blaine Ison with a third in the 200 (23.58). The Panthers also made it with a second in the 4×400 relay (3:34.43).

Panthers move to final

GREENSBURG — Jennings County advanced to today’s Greensburg Sectional final with a 5-0 semifinal win against Madison.

Reagan Brown beat Anna Blueman 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Tatum Brown topped Taylor Harsin (M) 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Mia Silvey downed Trinity Stoner 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (11-11).

Maria Alberti and Lucy Brown defeated Paige Sentney and Erin Burkhardt 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Amy Vogel and Caitlyn Schuck outlasted Addi Mundt and Hailey Jenkins 6-0, 5-7, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
