Rachel Mae (Stockdale) Consley, age 84, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born Jun 30, 1937 in Bedford, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Elmer and Goldie (Shafer) Stockdale. Mrs. Consley formerly owned and operated a beauty salon in Columbus, and formerly worked for the former Scott’s 5 &10 department store in Madison, Indiana, and Danner’s department store in Columbus.

She enjoyed playing Scrabble, Words with Friends game on Facebook, and watching Westerns, “Everybody Loves Raymond” and Country music shows on TV. She also cooked big meals for family get-togethers, painted on sawblades, played the piano and organ, and enjoyed visiting with friends at the McDonald’s restaurant in Madison.

Survivors include her husband, Donald R. Consley, to whom she was married in Bedford in 1953; five daughters: Donetta Jones and her husband, Ronald, Shirley Gates and her husband, Lester, Julia Adkins and her husband John, and Jill Consley, all of Columbus, and Connie Dickmeyer of Madison; one brother, Paul Stockdale of Sarasota, Florida; two sisters: Phyllis Ayres and her husband, Robert of Milton, Kentucky, and Rhudell Holly of Brownstown, Indiana; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Delmer Stockdale and Boyd Stockdale; and one son-in-law, Thomas Dickmeyer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford, with interment to follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2022 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford, and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday.
