Letter: Let senators know your views on gun lobby, stricter laws

From: Stephen Morse

Columbus

We are all saddened by the recent mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. This tragedy mirrors a similar mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut, in 2012 and other mass shootings in the intervening years.

Nearly every United States senator in the Republican party has received money from the National Rifle Association, a major political force and America’s foremost defender of Second Amendment rights. As a result, the GOP uses the filibuster every time some form of gun legislation is proposed. Thus, one powerful organization is able to prevent any changes to our current gun control laws that might help avert these kinds of tragedies.

Whether you are a Republican, a Democrat, a Libertarian, an independent, or have any other political party affiliation, please let your views on this subject be known to our senators so that we can get some sensible gun control legislation passed before more innocent lives are lost.
