Panthers finish fourth

MADISON — Jennings County finished fourth as a team in Monday’s Madison Sectional, but advanced an individual to Thursday’s Providence Regional at Champions Pointe.

Jake Grider qualified with a 75 at Sunrise, leading the Panthers to a 350 team score. Jack George carded an 89, Eli Simmons added a 92, Davey Shaw shot 94 and Tanner Stearns had a 96.

Austin (298), Madison (315) and Scottsburg (340) claimed the three regional team-qualifying spots.

Eagles 6th, Cougars 8th

BLOOMINGTON — Brown County put up a season-best 365 to finish sixth in the Bloomington North Sectional at Cascades. The Eagles’ score was a 55-shot improvement over their performance in Edgewood’s Mustang Invitational on the same course.

Cooper VanNess and Clay Austin each shot 90 to lead Brown County. Kody Walsh carded a 92, Eli Sichting added a 93 and Wesley Arndt had a 114.

Trinity Lutheran finished eighth with a 378, but advanced senior Jacob Sabotin to Thursday’s Providence Regional as an individual. Sabotin led the Cougars with an 82, while Kade Hill added a 93, Caleb Williams shot 101 and Preston Kovener had a 102.

No. 2 Bloomington South (293), Bedford North Lawrence (318) and Bloomington North (325) claimed the three regional-qualifying spots.

Lancers take 12th

FRANKLIN — Edinburgh played without top golfer Max Blandford and finished 12th in the Franklin Sectional at The Legends.

Trevor Moon led the Lancers with a 98. Mason Calhoun carded a 99, Devyn Milburn added a 111, Cash Cunningham shot 111 and Burton had a 112.

No. 6 Center Grove (310), Franklin (320) and Greenwood Christian Academy (320) took the regional-qualifying spots.
