Northside Middle School eighth grader Claire Rawlings has organized a Rice Run Fundraiser for school children in Haiti. The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the school track, 1400 27th St. in Columbus. People are encouraged to pledge money linked to the number of laps a participant can do at the event, according to organizers.
Funds will go toward buying food and school supplies for poverty-stricken youngsters in Haiti. Rawlings is working with a Haitian charity on the effort.
