Timothy Butler

SEYMOUR

Timothy Butler, 63, of Seymour, Indiana passed away June 12, 2022, at Schneck Medical Center. In 1958, he was born to Robert and D. Faustine “Teena” Butler, in Seymour, Indiana. On November 22, 1986, he married the love of his life, Beth Terry. Together they raised one daughter, Samantha.

Tim was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. He had a heart full of kindness that he loved sharing with others. His outgoing and fun personality could light up a room, and he never shied away from a corny joke just to make you laugh. Tim worked many years, including time at JCPenney and Vick’s Liquor Store. In 2016 he retired from a 27-year career with the Indiana Department of Transportation as a Buildings and Grounds Supervisor. Over the years he invested his time in the community by serving as a president of the Jackson County Public Library Board and coaching his daughter’s Destination Imagination teams.

Outside of his service, Tim enjoyed being outdoors. His passion for being in nature began as a young boy and grew to include a love for camping, canoeing, and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed spending his weekends smoking meats and sharing those meals with his family and friends. Tim also enjoyed NASCAR, dirt track racing, Butler and IU basketball, listening to blues music, taking family beach trips, and spoiling his rescue dogs. Most of all, Tim loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughter, Lilly. She was the light of his life and brought him so much joy and hope.

Tim’s loving memories will forever live on with his wife, Beth Butler; his daughter, Samantha (Tony) Franklin; his granddaughter, Lilly Franklin; his siblings, Richard Butler, Shelly (Dana) Antle, and Robin (Mark) Voss; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Terry; his sister-in-law, Brenda (Doug) Wolka; his nieces and nephews, Andy (Suzanne) Wolka, Adam (Sylvia) Wolka, Christopher Butler, Matthew (Alicia) Butler, Mark Butler, Logan Cooley, Allison (Andrew) Sullivan, Lauren Voss, and Dustin Voss; and several great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and D. Faustine “Teena” Butler; his brother, Michael Butler; and his father-in-law, John Terry.

A funeral service is planned for Friday, June 17, 2022, at 11am with Pastor Steve Greene officiating. Visitation will be held at Voss and Sons Funeral Service on Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 4pm to 7pm and on Friday June 17, 2022, from 10am until time of service. Burial to follow service at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.

Family requests memorial contributions be made to the Jackson County Humane Society in care of Voss and Sons Funeral Service.
