Two juveniles perish after being pulled from Greenwood pond

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced the second juvenile female that was pulled from a Greenwood pond has succumbed to her injuries and died.  Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

9:20 A.M. UPDATE

GREENWOOD, Ind. — One of the juveniles pulled from a Greenwood pond has died at Franciscan Health Hospital. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy today to determine exact cause of death.

The second juvenile remains in critical condition at Riley Hospital for Children.

ORIGINAL STORY

GREENWOOD — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an incident involving two juveniles Wednesday night.

At approximately 7:50 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the area of the 1200 block of Edgewater Drive in the Clear Brook Subdivision after two juveniles were separated from a group playing in the water and did not resurface, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources..

Greenwood Fire Department and Greenwood Police Department were first on scene and were able to recover the female victims at 8:05 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., respectively, in approximately 15 feet of water.

The victims were transported to Franciscan Health Hospital and Community South in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be released as they become available.

Agencies assisting include Bargersville Fire Department, Indianapolis Fire Department, Johnson Co. Sheriff’s Department, and Southport Police Department.
