ISBA to have school board candidate sessions

The Indiana School Boards Association will host a series of candidate forums beginning July 11 for potential candidates thinking about running for a local school board.

Six forums are planned at locations around the state and one will be offered online. Each begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 8:45 p.m., local time.

These sessions are designed to help potential school board candidates better understand the role, responsibilities and legal parameters of serving. They will be presented by Steve Horton, director of board services, and Lisa Tanselle, general counsel or Julie Slavens, senior counsel/director of polity services.

The closest session to Columbus is at Scottsburgh High School Commons, 500 S. Gardner St., on July 25. The online session is July 19.

To register, visit isba-ind.org/calendar-at-a-glance.html and select the forum you wish to attend. Registration is $35.
