COLUMBUS
Wilma Greenlee, 80, of Columbus passed from this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 2:00 a.m. at her son’s residence.
Mrs. Greenlee was born on June 14, 1942, in Irvine, Kentucky the daughter of Thomas Plowman and Dorothy Tipton Springer. On June 30, 1960, in Columbus at their Pastor’s home she married Oren D. Greenlee.
Mrs. Greenlee retired after years of service in the banking industry, where she served numerous rolls including most recently a bookkeeper/teller at Fifth Third Bank. She was a member of Lowell General Baptist Church where she was very active in numerous rolls, such as being a Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer. Mrs. Greenlee was also well known for her many Christmas plays that she wrote for the church, that many enjoyed throughout the years.
Wilma enjoyed sending cards to people and visiting shut-ins and people at nursing homes, especially those that did not have family. But above all she had a tremendous love for her family and loved spending time with them.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Oren D. Greenlee of Columbus; son, Ed (Catherine) Greenlee of Columbus; grandson, James (Emily) Greenlee of Columbus; great grandchildren, Rowan, Olivia, Thomas, Lucas, and a baby boy due in October; and a sister, Lillian (Mark) Mitchell of Greenville, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James “Tom” Greenlee in 1983; and brothers, Thomas and Donald Plowman.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Rev. Ron Hampton officiating.
Family and friends may call for visitation from 10:00 a.m. till time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
In memory of Mrs. Greenlee memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
