A local man who was wanted on a felony warrant was arrested on several charges after he attempted to flee from Columbus police officers on Monday afternoon.
Shortly before 5 p.m., CPD officers observed Sage S. Banks, 25, of 2303 Midway St., operating a blue moped near 25th Street and Jordan Drive, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. Officers determined that Banks had a felony warrant for his arrest and attempted to stop him a short time later. Banks refused to pull over and attempted to elude officers by cutting across parking lots, driving in the wrong lane on U.S. 31, and disregarding traffic signals.
Banks jumped off the moped in a parking lot near U.S. 31 and 10th Street and was apprehended by officers after a short struggle, Harris said.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of:
Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle
Resisting law enforcement
Reckless driving
Bartholomew County warrant (possession of methamphetamine)
Banks was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $78,500 bond, jail officials said.
