Airport hosts ‘splash bash’ Saturday

Columbus Municipal Airport plans to help families beat the heat with a special event this weekend.

The airport will host the “BAK” 2 School Splash Bash from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday as part of its Take Flight event series. There is no cost to attend.

“Kids of all ages are invited to play on our inflatable water slides and climbers and to throw a few water balloons,” airport officials said. “We’ll be offering free Zaharako’s ice cream with a collectible bowl and spoon while supplies last.”

The Columbus Board of Works recently approved a right of way request from the airport to close a portion of Ray Boll Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the event.

In addition to Zaharakos, other sponsors of the event series include Woolpert Engineering, Johnson-Witkemper, Inc Insurance Services, Russell Development Company, Taylor Brothers Construction Co., Inc and the Columbus Indiana Visitors’ Center.
