Testimony on abortion bill is today

INDIANAPOLIS — Public testimony on Senate Bill 1, which provides for a ban on abortion with exceptions only for rape, incest and to save the life of the mother, will begin at 9 a.m. today before the House Courts and Criminal Code Committee.

The Indiana House of Representatives held a brief session Monday afternoon to assign the bill to the committee, which will hear public testimony in the House Chamber.

Members of the public who want to testify in person must sign up in advance online or in person. The online form is at http://iga.in.gov/ and those who arrive at the Statehouse must check in at the House chamber upon arrival.

The committee will receive written testimony sent to [email protected]. Written testimony will be accepted until 1 p.m. today.
