ELIZABETHTOWN

Matthew R. Eggleston, 43, of Elizabethtown, passed away on August 3, 2022, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born November 30, 1978, in Columbus to Dallas R. Eggleston and Patty D. Cooper Eggleston.

Matthew was a very loving, and kind person who never failed to leave a remarkable and lasting impression on others. He received his Certificate of Completion from Jennings County High School. During his life, he enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, and spending time with his family. He absolutely loved Christmas music and would play it all year round.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Dallas and Patty Eggleston, of Elizabethtown; sister, Christy Amburgey (Brett Miller), of Elizabethtown; niece, Katrina (Kasey) Holley, of Elizabethtown; nephew, Benjamin Amburgey, of Elizabethtown; aunt, Janis (Chuck) Lovelace, of Columbus; great-nephew, Kaden Plaster, of Elizabethtown; great-nieces, Izabella Holley, and Alexandra Plaster, of Elizabethtown; grandmother, Carolyn Eggleston, of North Vernon; and cousins, Marc (Danielle) Eggleston, and their children, Temprance, Malichi, and Naomi, all of North Vernon, and Jessica Eggleston, and her daughter, Kendall, of Columbus, Chris (Kara) Lovelace and their children, Drew and Chase, of Westfield, Kevin Lovelace, and his children Kelsey, K.C. and Braxton Ison, of Columbus, Lisa Haines, of Columbus, Gary Haines, and his son, Michael, of North Vernon, and Chris (Tanya) Finner, and their son, Sam, of Indianapolis.

He is preceded in death by his aunt, Terri Eggleston; uncle, Jeffrey Eggleston; grandfather, Robert Eggleston; and grandparents, Robert, and Virginia Cooper.

The funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Haines officiating service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
