Columbus police arrest local man after ‘shots fired’ report at local bar

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus police officers arrested a local man on several charges after receiving a report of shots fired in the parking lot of a Columbus bar on Saturday night.

At approximately 11:10 p.m., CPD officers responded to the Cozy Bar, located at 3870 25th St. in regards to a disturbance. Upon their arrival, the officers were advised
that Chase McNealy, 27, of Columbus was kicked out of the bar and later discharged a gun several times in the parking lot before running from the area on foot, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Ammunition casings were recovered by officers in the parking lot.

CPD officers observed McNealy running on 25th Street while holding a handgun a short time later, Harris said. A foot pursuit ensued and McNealy was apprehended in the backyard of a residence near 22nd Street and Beam Road. The handgun was also recovered.

McNealy was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges: Criminal recklessness with a firearm, resisting Law enforcement with a deadly weapon, intimidation with a firearm, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
