A new candidate has filed to run for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. school board.
Anakarina Hurtado, 30, filed her candidacy for District 1 on Thursday afternoon. The seat is currently held by board president Jill Shedd, whose term expires at the end of this year. Shedd has not yet filed for re-election.
Hurtado’s paperwork states that her employer, as of 2021, was Cummins, Inc.
Candidates were able to begin filing for local school board races on July 27, and the deadline to turn in all necessary paperwork is Friday, Aug. 26 at noon.
