Bunker’s record leads CN

EDINBURGH — Ava Bunker fired a school record-tying 4-under-par 32 Monday to lead Columbus North to its best score of the season in a 161-195 win against Greenwood at Timbergate.

Ritisha Rashmil carded a 42 for the Bull Dogs. Lindsey Hartwell added a 43, Erin Hopkins shot 44, Kara Buntin had 54 and Nettie Meeks finished with a 56.

Olympians top Owls

Katie Hong won medalist honors with a 41 to lead Columbus East to a 195-206 win against Seymour at Otter Creek.

Avery Brooks carded a 51 for the Olympians. Grace LaSell added a 52, Dyana Foster shot 53 and Ali Trueblood had a 54.

Panthers take second

BATESVILLE — Jennings County finished second in a tri match at Hillcrest. Fifth-ranked and host Batesville won with a 160 to 193 for the Panthers and 251 for Milan.

Alexis Carson led Jenningswith a 44. Sophia Curry carded a 45, Lauren Galvan added a 46, Rachael Manning shot 58, Shelby Davis had a 60 and Dakota Carr finished with a 61.

Lancers down Tigers

SHELBYVILLE — Izzy Richardson and Macie Blandford tied for medalist honors at 46 to lead Edinburgh to a 212-270 win against Triton Central at Hawk’s Tail.

Jillian Turner carded a 58 for the Lancers. Gracie Myers added a 62, Hannah Pile shot 63, Cloee Britton had a 64, Ciera Myers shot 65 and Bella Turner finished with a 71.

BOYS TENNIS

North opens with win

WHITELAND — Columbus North opened its season with a 4-1 win at Whiteland.

Hank Lin beat Spencer Gillespie 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Parth Shah topped Ty McCullars 4-6, 7-6 (5), (11-9) at No. 2 singles and Austin Clark downed Chase Koester 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs. Anvay Atram and Amrit Kar defeated Carson Baumann and Gavin Stubbe 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

North’s Parth Gupta and Darren Li fell to Jeremiah Hurt and Kai Koester 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

East falls to Panthers

BLOOMINGTON — Bloomington South won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win against Columbus East.

Erik Takahashi fell to Michael Alspund at No. 1 singles, and Matthew Degner lost to Chris Lian at No. 2 singles, both by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Brady Redelman fell to Nicky Walker 6-2, 6-1 for the Olympians (0-2).

East’s Ethan Bumbalough and Ethan Kirk lost to Alex Busch and Evan Kantor 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Jacob Dettmer and Lincoln West fell to Josh Sang and Connor Couch 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Jennings blanks Milan

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County dropped only seven games in the five matches in opening its season with a 5-0 win against Milan.

Owen Law beat Cayden Green at No. 1 singles, Parker Bales downed Jeremy Jackson at No. 2 singles and Alex Leach blanked Carson Doolittle at No. 3 singles, all by 6-0, 6-0 scores for the Panthers.

Jennings’ Justin Ramey and Ryan Schuck topped Brandon Bentley and Aiden Macfarland 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Janne Sebastian and Ty Zohrlaut defeated Ben Miller and Mason May 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

VOLLEYBALL

South Decatur wins in 4

KNIGHTSTOWN — South Decatur rallied from a first-set setback to pick up a 19-25, 25-23, 25-10, 25-10 win at Knightstown.

Makayla Somers recorded 20 assists and two solo and three assist blocks, and Paige McQueen had 26 digs and two aces to lead the Cougars (3-2). Sophia Bushhorn pounded 12 kills.

Also for South Decatur, Zsophia Sharp added nine kills and one solo and three assist blocks. Lydia Witkemper notched 15 digs.

Trinity sweeps Hornets

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran had little trouble in rolling to a 25-16, 25-10, 25-9 win against Henryville.

Bailey Tabeling recorded 14 kills and three aces, and Addison Darlage had 35 assists and three aces to lead the Cougars (3-2). Laura Roeder notched 12 digs, and Carson Bowling served three aces.

Also for Trinity, Bowling pounded nine kills, and Drew Hubbard added eight kills. Tabeling and Darlage each had four assists.

GIRLS SOCCER

Pioneers top Trinity

CLARKSVILLE — Trinity Lutheran opened its season with a 10-0 loss at Providence.

The Pioneers outshot the Cougars 25-0. Samantha Enzinger posted 11 saves.
