Columbus police officers arrested a local man Sunday evening on numerous charges after receiving a report of a suspicious person who damaged a storm door at a residence.

At approximately 6:50 p.m., CPD officers located the suspect lying in the driveway of a residence in the 2900 block of Indiana Avenue. When officers approached the man, who was later identified as Brandon M. Weddle, 27, of 132 Coovert St., he got up and began making threats towards the officers, said Lt. Weddle reportedly spit on an officer and continued making threats and was taken into custody after a short scuffle, Harris said.

He was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital and later remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges:

—Battery on a law enforcement officer (Level 6 felony)

—Intimidation/threats (two counts) (Level 6 felony)

—Resisting law enforcement (Class A misdemeanor)

—Public intoxication (Class B misdemeanor)

Weddle was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $27,000 bond.
