Edward Allan Bokelman

WESTPORT, INDIANA

Edward Allan Bokelman, 77, of Westport, passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on September 20, 1944, in Greensburg, the son of Adolph & Lois (Barnes) Bokelman.

He graduated in 1962 from Burney High School and received an associate degree from IUPUI. Edward retired in 1995 from Cummins Engine Co. after 34 years of service.

He was a member and past Trustee of the Elizabethtown United Methodist Church and had served as a Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, reading, astronomy, loved being with his family and watching his grandchildren’s events.

He had his private pilot license and loved to fly and travel. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. He recently went on the Indy Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

He married Judy Tomlinson on September 11, 1971, at the Bear Creek Baptist Church and she survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Kelli (Patrick) Smith of Columbus; his son, Eric Bokelman of Westport; his sisters, Clara (Ed) Bewley of Greensburg, Shirley Meyer of Greensburg, and Deb Mart of Ellettsville; his brothers, Jim Bokelman and John Bokelman both of Greensburg; his grandchildren, Austin, Abby, Parker & Cooper Smith; his in-laws, Janice & Larry Campbell, Bonnie Dixon, Teresa & Warren Cooper, Larry & Ann Tomlinson & Paul Tomlinson and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ron Bokelman and Robert Bokelman in infancy; and sister, Jane Wilson.

The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Robert Lay officiating. Burial will follow at the Bear Creek Cemetery with military graveside rites. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
