Man arrested after foot chase

Olmstead

A local man with a warrant for his arrest was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after he attempted to evade officers during a foot chase.

Shortly before 2 p.m., Columbus police officers observed Joshua W. Olmstead, 27, Columbus, walking in the 1000 block of Central Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. The officers confirmed a local warrant for Olmstead’s arrest and began speaking with him.

A short time later, Olmstead fled from officers on foot, Harris said. The officers pursued Olmstead and he was taken into custody near Central Place and 10th Street.

Olmstead was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, false informing and the warrant. He was being held in jail in lieu of $58,500 bond, jail officials said.
