Retirement ceremony set for David

INDIANAPOLIS — A retirement celebration for Justice Steven H. David will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 in the Indiana Supreme Court Courtroom. The celebration will be live webcast at courts.in.gov.

Justice David, who is from Columbus, is Indiana’s 106th Supreme Court justice. He will step down from the bench on Aug. 31, after nearly 30 years as a judicial branch leader. He was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2010 and was previously elected trial court judge in Boone County.

During his career, he authored more than 200 opinions and served with eight justices.

On June 10, Gov. Eric Holcomb selected Court of Appeals Judge Derek Molter to fill the vacancy from the nominees submitted by the Judicial Nominating Commission.
