COLUMBUS
M. Dean Bishop, 86, of Columbus passed from this life on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 7:24 p.m. at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Bishop was born on October 23, 1935, in Newbern, Indiana the son of Ernest Eugene and Doris Percifield Bishop. On September 20, 1959, he married Beverly A. Linson.
Mr. Bishop retired after 39 years from AT&T where he held various positions and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Otter Creek Golf Course, Bartholomew County Shrine Club and the Indiana Freemasons. He was very active with his church and enjoyed volunteering in various capacities at the church. Dean loved to play golf, watch Indy Car racing, college basketball and pro-football, especially I.U. Basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Beverly A. Bishop of Columbus; children, Deann L. (Tim) Rogers of Fishers, Gregory D. (Steven Herring) Bishop of New York, Eric A. (Lisa) Bishop of Columbus, Troy D. (Sara) Bishop of Columbus; grandchildren, Zach (Kelsey) Rogers, Taylor Rogers, Meghan (Grant) Goe, Seth (Amelia) Rogers, Liz Rogers, Erica Bishop, Carson Bishop, Ephraim Bishop; sister, Cheryl Hendry; fourteen nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Carol Ayers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Phyllis Pruitt, Stanley Bishop, Charlene Bair, and David Bishop.
In keeping with Mr. Bishop’s wishes cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Howard Boles officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation Monday from 10:00 a.m. till time of service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to First United Methodist Church.
