Cummins Community-Wide Recycling Day set for Thursday

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Cummins is bringing back a popular Columbus event, Community-Wide Recycling Day, on Thursday at the Cummins Engine Plant entrance, 500 Central Ave.

Hours for the event are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in a drop-off format.

Cummins employees assist with the unloading at the recycling event. Recyclables must be clean and sorted into categories.

This is open to all Columbus households to bring recyclables including plastic bottles and containers, glass bottles, cardboard and paper, used batteries, metal cans, household paint, shoes and clothing, electronic waste and used motor oil. Other items that will be accepted include fluorescent lights, tires (with a four-tire limit) and antifreeze.

Televisions and appliances (no refrigerators or air conditioning units accepted), computers and electronics will also be accepted.

Items that will not be accepted are plastic bags, Styrofoam, tractor tires, household lightbulbs, mercury thermometers, chemicals and pesticides, pressure vessels or propane cylinders or bricks, pavers and concrete blocks.
