I-65 lanes to close near Columbus

Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction plans to close lanes on I-65 starting Sunday evening for concrete patching and bridge work near State Road 46 in Columbus. The work is part of the $65 million added travel lanes project that began last year. Lane closures were originally scheduled to begin this past weekend, but were postponed.

Starting around 9 p.m. Sunday evening, continuous single-lane closures are scheduled to begin near mile marker 67 on I-65 northbound, to allow crews to complete patching and apply a polymeric overlay to the I-65 bridge over State Road 46. Work is anticipated to begin in the left lane. All lanes are expected to reopen the morning of Sept. 23. Ramps at the State Road 46 interchange will remain open.

Southbound lane closures are scheduled to begin the following Sunday evening, on Sept. 25), for the same type of work to occur. Single-lane closures will begin near mile marker 70 on I-65 southbound. Work is anticipated to begin in the left lane. All lanes are expected to reopen Friday morning, Sept. 30. Ramps at the State Road 46 interchange will remain open.

Additional work to complete patching on the ramps to and from State Road 46 and repairs to the beams and arch on the bridge will be scheduled for a later date.
