Wilbur L. Harner

COLUMBUS

Wilbur Harner, 77, of Columbus, passed from this life at 3:06 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.

Wil was born October 12, 1944, in Washington, Indiana, the son of Lawrence and Autumn Wade

Harner.

He was a 1962 graduate of Washington high school. He started his career at Cummins Engine Company at the age of 19 and retired in 1994. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent his time as a cook traveling Germany and France during the Vietnam war. Wil married Katherine Copple on July 24, 1971.

He was an accomplished woodworker making gifts for family and friends and also a master gardener enjoying tending to his flowers daily. He was a devout member of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Clifty.

Wil was a loved and respected member of his family and community, he will be missed by everyone that was blessed to know him.

Wil is survived by his wife of 51 years; son, Eric (Susan)Harner; daughter, Kristi (Tom)Babcock; grandchildren, Jake(Taylor) Harner, Kenny Harner, Mackenzie Cameron, Thomas (Kelsey) Cameron, Wesley Harner; 5 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Phyllis (Andy) Schuetz, Jerald Harner, and Carolyn Harner.

He was preceded by his parents and in-laws Bill and Marge Copple.

The funeral will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Clifty with Pastor Douglas Bauman officiating.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to time of service Thursday at the church.

Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
