Jets sweep Lions on Senior Night

HOPE — The Hauser volleyball team came with a lot of energy Thursday night against Rushville, but for a great reason. It was senior night for the Jets.

Following the pregame ceremony, it was all Hauser right from the opening serve to claim a 25-20, 25-15, 25-18 sweep over the Lions.

“It’s been more than four years with them. They’ve been on my (HAVOC) club team. They mean a lot. They’re good kids, and they’ll go on to great things,” Hauser coach Jeff Case said of his seniors. “They showed really good leadership this year. I really appreciate their effort. They were focused on getting the younger kids involved and showing them how things are supposed to be done. They’re a special group. I’m very proud of them.”

The victory snaps a three game losing skid for the Jets (20-10).

Hauser took an early 10-5 lead in the first set, but then Rushville came back to cut the deficit to 17-14. The Jets then turned up the intensity to eventually capture the set for a 1-0 lead in the match.

Hauser kept the momentum going to start the second set when it jumped out to a 12-4 lead. The Lions cut it to 14-10 at one point, but the Jets came back with a 7-1 run to eventually close the set and lead the match 2-0.

The Jets took a 12-4 lead in the third set and cruised to the victory.

“It’s senior night and they’re all pumped all thinking about that,” Case said. “It was nice to see they were focused and didn’t take them lightly and came out and worked hard. I’m really happy with the effort.”

For the Jets, Adrianna Musillami finished with 30 assists, 17 digs and an ace. Kenze Bostic recorded 11 kills and five blocks, Aniston Bostic had six kills and three blocks, Charlie Clark finished with five kills and an ace, Mattie Foster added nine digs and two aces, Kyra Meister notched 15 digs and Paige McDaniel had two blocks.

Hauser ends the regular season with a Mid-Hoosier Conference matchup at Edinburgh on Tuesday.
