COLUMBUS
Christie L. Sims, 62, of Columbus, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family at Columbus Regional Hospital on October 3, 2022. She was born on July 12, 1960 to the late Bernard Sims and Ruby Meyers Sims in Letts, Indiana.
Christie was a Deputy at the Bartholomew County Sherriff’s Department where she retired from after serving for 34 years. She was the first women to be a deputy in Columbus, Indiana.
She is survived by her companion, Lyn A. Nunemaker, of Columbus, Indiana; son, Benjamin C. Dobson, of Columbus, Indiana; and brothers, Ray C. Sims, and Randy Sims, of Columbus, Indiana, and Scott Sims, of Elizabethtown, Indiana.
Christie is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Sims, and Ruby Meyers Sims.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 14 at 1:00 p.m. at the Revival Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Clifford, Indiana with Rev. Eli Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A 1042 Last Call will be given by the Bartholomew County Sherriff’s Department Honor Guard team.
