FISHERS
Oscar M. Gerth passed away on October 10, 2022, at the age of 74 with his family by his side.
He was born August 7, 1948, in Seymour, Indiana to Oscar F. and Bernice Gerth. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1967. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1971, where he met his future wife, Diane Vaal. After getting married, they started their life together in Columbus, Indiana. After six years of working for others, he decided to go out on his own. He opened his own accounting firm and ran it with the help of his wife until his retirement in 2019. At this time, they relocated to Fishers, Indiana to be closer to family.
Oscar enjoyed family meals, supporting his grandchildren in their activities, and spending time tinkering in his garage hide-away.
Oscar is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane; daughters, Cherilyn (James) Stephens of Greenwood, Allison (Shane) Gamble of Fishers, and Jessica (Michael) Fisher of Lawrence; grandchildren, Joey and Delaney Gamble; and his life-long friend, Fred Lewis of Seymour.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Gerth; father, Oscar F. Gerth; and brothers, Dick and Tom Gerth.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Oscar’s honor to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.
At Oscar’s request, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
