Jets drop opener

VERSAILLES — Hauser led by six in the third quarter of Saturday’s season opener, but South Ripley rallied for a 58-51 victory.

Madelyn Poe scored 28 points to lead the Jets, who were missing three varsity players because of injuries and other commitments. Norah Berkenstock added 12 points.

North falls to Franklin

FRANKLIN — Class 4A co-No. 9 Franklin jumped out to a 26-13 halftime lead and pulled away from there to hand Columbus North a 65-28 defeat.

Miley McClellan led the Bull Dogs (0-2) with six points. Kayla Jones added five.

Panthers win tourney

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County captured its own tournament, beating North Harrison 66-36 in the semifinals and Charlestown 49-40 in the championship game.

Julian Woodard led the Panthers with 22 points against North Harrison. Mollie Ernstes scored 10, and Alexis Carson added eight.

Ernstes scored 17 points to lead Jennings (3-0) against Charlestown. Woodard scored 11, and Maddie McIntosh added 10.

Eagles get first win

HANOVER — Brown County gave Kamady Lewis her first coaching victory with a 62-42 win at Southwestern (Hanover).

Lexie Austin led the Eagles (1-1) with 19 points. Katie Tipton scored 12, and Savannah Oden and Maddie Huff each added eight.

Cougars top Spartans

GREENSBURG — South Decatur jumped out to an 11-3 lead after one quarter and went on to post a 48-36 Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Southwestern (Shelby).

Kiley Best led the Cougars (2-0, 1-0) with 22 points. Makayla Puckett and Brayley Sundal each added seven points, and Makayla Somers grabbed 12 rebounds.
