Bull Dogs split pair

JEFFERSONVILLE — Columbus North kicked off its wrestling season Wednesday by splitting a pair of matches in Jeffersonville’s Turkey Tussle.

The Bull Dogs beat Corydon Central 64-15 before falling to Jeffersonville 45-33.

Justice Thornton (132 pounds), Jason Shuey (138), Asher Ratliff (145), Liam Phillips (160), Keller DeSpain (170) and Jose Ramirez (182) all went 2-0 for North.

Panthers defeat Warriors

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County led 35-19 at the half and went on to post a 69-62 victory over visiting Whiteland in its season opener.

Keegan Manowitz finished with a team-high 20 points, and Parker Elmore added 12 for the Panthers (1-0).
