Bartholomew County Highway Department has announced two road closings.
East 25th Street from County Road 500E to County Road 650E, will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. today for bridge borings.
Engineers will be trying to determine how deep road salt has penetrated the concrete deck of the bridge, Bartholomew County Highway Engineer Danny Hollander said. Core samples will be taken that can be used at a later date to design a complete rehabilitation of the bridge deck.
Meanwhile, Cummins Inc. has been given permission to close Marr Road on Friday, just south of Armuth Acres, so the road can be used in a promotional or instructional video.
While Marr will be closed Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. between County Road 550N and County Road 600N, the intersections at both junctions will remain open, Hollander said. Only the half-mile straight road between the county roads will be used for the video project.
Although there are a number of alternative routes at both locations, Hollander said detours will be marked.
