Teresa Diane Handt was born on January 25, 1960 in Columbus, Indiana to Norman and Frances (Zapfe) Handt. She was the second of seven children.

She loved all kinds of music but especially country music which she would listen to for hours on her radio. She also loved Mickey Mouse and Rudolph. Her favorite color was red.

As an adult, Teresa lived in a group home with several other ladies near the Indianapolis Museum of Art. She attended nearby programs first at Crossroads and later at ResCare Day Center where she had many friends. In addition, Teresa enjoyed gathering with family for holidays and going out to lunch with her sisters.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents Norman and Frances and her younger brother Robert Handt.
