Bull Dogs blast Braves

TERRE HAUTE — Columbus North raced to a 46-13 halftime lead Saturday and cruised from there to a 62-23 Conference Indiana rout at Terre Haute South.

Lauren Barker led the Bull Dogs (5-3, 2-0) with 21 points. Kathryn Wilson scored 14, and Olivia Johnson added seven.

Crusaders down Kings

FAIRMOUNT — Columbus Christian jumped out to a 20-2 lead after one quarter and held on for a 37-28 win at Kings Academy.

Sarah Lorimor led the Crusaders (4-3) with 28 points.

Jets fall to Hornets

HOPE — In a back-and-forth game, Beech Grove had the lead last in a 50-45 win at Hauser.

The Jets fell to 4-4.

Trojans top Panthers

ST. LEON — After five consecutive wins to open the season, Jennings County took its second consecutive loss, a 58-45 setback at East Central.

Juliann Woodard led the Panthers (5-2) with 20 points. Mollie Ernstes added eight.

BOYS BASKETBALL

East falls to Rebels

HANOVER — Columbus East was within 48-44 after three quarters before Southwestern (Hanover) pulled away for a 79-63 win.

Ben Sylva led the Olympians (1-3) with 17 points. Julius Dailey scored 14, Keaton Lawson had 11 and Jake Gilbert added eight.

Hauser tops Trinity

SEYMOUR — Hauser jumped out to a 29-12 halftime lead and went on to post a 50-26 win at Trinity Lutheran

Ledger Gelfius led the Jets (2-0) with 18 points. Gavin Keller scored eight, and Owen McIntyre added seven.

Kole Shewmaker scored seven points to lead the Cougars (0-3).

Columbus Christian wins

Columbus Christian shut out Community Christian in the first quarter en route to a 62-46 victory.

Peyton Walden led the Crusaders (4-2) with 26 points. Noah Edwards scored 13, Jordan Burton had 11 and Jacob Bell added seven.

Panthers rout RCA

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County made 17 3-pointers in an 89-45 rout of Rock Creek Academy.

Justin Ramey led the Panthers (4-0) with 21 points. Owen Law had 19 points and seven steals; Parker Elmore added 13 points and eight rebounds; Carter Kent notched 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Lane Zohrlaut scored 11 points.

Lancers down Mohawks

EDINBURGH — Caleb Dewey scored 30 points to lead Edinburgh to a 66-44 win against Waldron in its Mid-Hoosier Conference opener.

Jarrett Turner scored 17 points for the Lancers (4-0, 1-0). Connor Ramey added nine.

East wins Jeff Duals

JEFFERSONVILLE — Columbus East went 5-0 to win the Jeffersonville Duals. The Olympians beat New Palestine 39-24, Jennings County 60-12, Tell City 38-36, Jeffersonville 47-22 and Evansville Memorial 63-7.

Liam Krueger (126/132 pounds), Tyler Lake (182) and Tommy Morrill (220) all went 5-0 for East. Talon Jessup (106), Gage Rutan (120), Caleb Cooper (126/132), Mitchell Williams (170), Jackson Fox (195) and Patrick McMahon (285) all went 4-1. Bo Wagner (138) went 3-2.

Jennings went 2-5, falling to Tell City 53-27 beating Evansville Memroail 42-20 on Friday. Saturday, the Panthers lost to Jeffersonville 62-18, East 60-12 and New Palestine 52-24 before beating South Dearborn 64-18 and falling to Heritage Hills 56-20.

James Hayden (160) and Teagan Trotter (182) each went 5-2 for Jennings. Lane Kirchner (132) and Evan Sochacki (145) and Chris Hernandez (160) all went 4-3.

Bull Dogs take third

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus North went 3-2 to finish third in the Bloomington Invitational at Bloomington North. The Bull Dogs beat West Washington 72-12, fell to Bloomington South 41-28, beat Bloomington North 66-18, lost to Center Grove 77-6 and beat Martinsville 36-33.

Justice Thornton (132) went 5-0 for North. Jason Shuey (138), Asher Ratliff (145) and Liam Phillips (160) all went 4-1; while Liam Curfman (113), Bryce Hawkins (126) and Jose Ramirez (182/195) all went 3-2.

Trojans sweep Frogs

GREENWOOD — Center Grove swept Columbus North, winning the boys meet 124-56 and the girls meet 144-42.

Robert Cantu won the diving competition with 137.85 points to lead the Bull Frog boys. Ainsley Sherlock led the girls with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1 minutes, 13.4 1seconds).

Second-place finishers for the North boys included Jude Abdallah in the 200 freestyle (1:54.56), Carson Shoop in diving (120.60), Brock Smith in the 100 butterfly (58.03), Pratt Badve in the 100 backstroke (58.61) and Cole Ehara in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.27). Karissa Bevis took second in the girls 100 freestyle (58.45).
