Peggy Ann Brown

NEW LONDON, NH

Peggy Ann Brown, 73, New London, New Hampshire, a former owner of The Republic through Home News Enterprises, died in her home on Nov. 29, 2022.

She was born in Columbus on Feb. 23, 1949 to Bob and Betty Brown, who preceded her in death.

She graduated from Columbus North High School and attended Tufts University in Somerville, MA and Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, earning her bachelor’s degree there.

Peggy was a 5th generation family owner in Home News Enterprises, the previous owner of The Republic. She worked in the Personnel Department for HNE during the1970s. After moving to the Boston area she worked in Human Resources for a newspaper tech company and then at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire.

In 2005, Peggy went back to school to earn her master’s degree in social work from Simmons University in Boston, MA.

Her family and friends remember Peggy for her great sense of humor, intelligence, compassion, and warmth toward all. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and so much more.

Peggy loved watching and supporting sports teams, whether it was her daughters’ or grandsons’, her beloved New England Patriots or her alma mater, the Indiana Hoosiers. She also loved doing puzzles, reading, crafts, and socializing with friends and family where you could always hear her amazing laugh and depend on her attentive listening. People were drawn to her caring way, timely advice, and the personal attention she would give each and every person.

Peggy’s first marriage was to Curt DeClue of Columbus, and they had one daughter, Sarah Josephine. She later married Thomas Boggs, and they had a daughter Erin. Boggs preceded her in death in 2018.

Surviving family members include her siblings, Susan Brown of Batavia, IL, Rebecca Thompson of Bend, OR, and Jeffrey Brown of Columbus, IN; her daughter, Sarah Voas, Sarah’s husband, Jacob Voas and their children, Gunnar and Wyatt; and her daughter, Erin Pelletier, Erin’s husband, Ryan Pelletier and their children, Drew and Gavin, all of Chandler, AZ.
