Roberta Sue “Bertie” McQueen

COLUMBUS, INDIANA

Roberta Sue “Bertie” McQueen, 82, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 3:26 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mrs. McQueen was born in Indianapolis, December 17, 1940, the loving daughter of the late Oda James and Helen Louise Gibson Worton. On November 27, 1968, Bertie married Forrest L. “Mac” McQueen; he preceded her in death June 18, 2003.

For 27 years, Mrs. McQueen was a clerk at Gene’s Bakery; for 25 years, she was a deli clerk at Marsh Supermarket; and most recently she worked at McDonald’s on National Road. She was a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church, and she attended the Revival Full Gospel Tabernacle in Clifford. Mrs. McQueen always cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.

Mrs. McQueen is survived by her brother, Jack E. Worton Sr. of Columbus and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oda James and Helen Louise Worton; husband, Forrest L. “Mac” McQueen; sister, Barbara Irene Hoover; and brothers, Bobby, Jesse James, Tommy, Tony, and Richard Worton.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Eli Johnson will officiate.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 4-7 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Worton will be laid to rest next to her husband in Section 75 at the Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. McQueen can be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
