Letter: Coverage of Congress should stick to facts, not opinions

I just finished reading the article that Associated Press Congressional Correspondent Lisa Mascaro wrote that was in the Jan. 10 issue of The Republic (“Having elected House speaker, Republicans try governing”).

I have to say that the article noticeably had undertones that spoke to the personal opinion the writer has for the Republican Party. I can respect everyone’s opinion, but when reporting on a particular event, just stick with the facts and leave your personal opinions to yourself. This only creates more division.

Example: “It’s the start of a new era of potentially crisis governing, House Republicans lurching from one standoff to the next …”

This has no bearing on the facts of what is happening. Stop all the division and come together. I’m tired of reading this.
