Alongsider Church — Alongsider is a community of house churches coming together to worship as one body on the first and third Sundays monthly at 9:30 a.m. The church meets in the cafeteria at WD Richards Elementary School. Park in the back by the tennis courts and enter through door 24. On the second and fourth Sundays, house churches meet in homes across Columbus for a conversational study of the past sermon and deeper fellowship.

Asbury United Methodist Church — Asbury offers a traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m. Nursery is available for both services. J.A.M. (children’s church) is offered only at the 11 a.m. service. Sunday school classes meet at 10 a.m. Asbury offers a variety of classes and group studies at various times during the week. Every Thursday when school is in full-day session, a $4 taco/chicken lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with Pit Stop (Taco Church) Lunch.

Columbus Baptist Church — The church offers worship services on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. A teen service is offered at 6:30 p.m. Sunday school for all ages meets at 9:30 a.m.

Wednesday Bible study, Kids Club and teens meet at 6:30 p.m. There are various small group events weekly.

Community Church of Columbus — Community Church of Columbus meets for Sunday service at 9 and 10:30 a.m. The second service is livestreamed and available on the Community Church’s Columbus Indiana Facebook page and Community Church of Columbus YouTube channel.

A 10-week series for parents of children in sixth grade and younger will launch on Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Dinner at 5:30 p.m. and children’s programming is provided at no cost as well. East Columbus Christian Church — East Columbus Christian Church is open for in-person worship on Sunday mornings with a blended worship service at 10 a.m. The church also has online worship available through Facebook and YouTube.

Sunday morning Bible study is at 9 a.m. Youth meet at the church from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and children’s ministry meets through Zoom on Wednesdays at 5 p.m.

East Columbus United Methodist Church — Pastor Jongmin Lee will bring the message at the 9 a.m. Sunday worship service. The morning blended worship service includes praise music and traditional hymns. Children receive a special message during children’s moment and are dismissed for children’s church during the service. Sunday school is held immediately after the morning service, and classes are available for all ages and Bible interests. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.

A free hot meal will be served the second Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Youth Center Building. All are welcome to come.

Women’s Bible study is the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.

Faith Lutheran Church — Worship each Sunday begins at 9 a.m. in-person and livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Most Sundays, Sunday school and an adult Bible study are offered from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Wednesday evening worship (masks optional) is offered at 6:30 p.m. each week. The congregation also livestreams a daily devotion and prayer Monday through Thursday at 7 a.m. on the Facebook page.

Preschool classes continue and the congregation offers an afterschool program each school day from 3 to 5:30 p.m. with busing from Southside Elementary.

First Lutheran Church — The church offers in-person worship on Sunday mornings at 8:45 a.m. for the classic service and 11:15 a.m. for the casual service. Livestreaming of both services can be accessed on the church’s YouTube page.

First Presbyterian Church — The third Sunday after Epiphany brings a story of Jesus inviting the first disciples (Matthew 4:18-25) and Pastor Felipe Martinez will offer a sermon titled “Gone Fishing.” The church will have a 9:30 a.m. worship in person in the sanctuary (you may wear a mask) or on Facebook, Zoom or YouTube. People in the community in need of a meal are invited to hot meals offered Fridays at 5 p.m. (Please enter through the glass doors on Franklin Street.) The church is LGBTQ-friendly, open and affirming to all.

First United Methodist Church — On Sunday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m., the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “Saying Yes.” The Scripture will be Matthew 4:12-23.

The church encourages those attending in person to arrive 10 minutes before the service. Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrances to the sanctuary. Masks are optional. Childcare will be available from 9:45 a.m. until the end of the 10 a.m. service.

For those unable to attend the in-person service or not yet comfortable meeting in person, service livestreams will be available on the church Facebook page and the church YouTube channel (FUMC Columbus). Videos will be available on the church website for later viewing as well.

Flintwood Wesleyan Church — Sunday morning worship begins at 9 a.m. with the amplify (contemporary) service. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. with classes for all age groups. The well (traditional) service begins at 11 a.m. Both worship services are led by Pastor Wesley Jones. The church’s Sunday amplify services are livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Wednesday activities begin with a meal served at 5:30 p.m. in the friendship center. The iKids program begins at 6:15 p.m. and youth meet downstairs in the sanctuary at 6:30 p.m. Prayer team meets in the prayer room downstairs in the main building at 6:15 p.m., and adult Bible study meets at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. Garden City Christian Church — Sunday school classes are available for infants through adults at 9 a.m. Join the church for a 10 a.m. Sunday morning worship service led by Pastor Brian Gilroy.

The church’s Alzheimer’s and dementia support group for caregivers meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Wednesday evening youth group, led by interim youth minister Ryan Croft, runs from 6 to 8 p.m. for grades 6-12. Trail Life Troop IN-0110 meets twice monthly on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.

Grace Lutheran Church — The church hosts Sunday worship services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. in person and livestreamed at gracecolumbus.org. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30 a.m.

On Sunday, Jan. 22, the message will be “Follow Me,” based on Matthew 4:12-25, exploring the claim of Christ on every human being.

On Tuesday, Jan. 24, the Alpha Class, a review of basic Christian truths, focuses on “Why did Jesus die?” A meal is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief video and small group discussion.

The Searching Scripture Class, a study of Luther’s Small Catechism, continues its study of the Ten Commandments. A meal is served at 6 p.m., followed by the class.

Memorial Baptist Church — The church is offering in-person and online worship services at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is offered online at 10:45 a.m. Online services are via Facebook and YouTube.

Mount Pleasant Christian Union Church — The church invites the community to visit the little 150-year-old country church for a 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. The church preaches out of the King James Bible and sings out of hymn books. The church’s doors are open for visitors as the church family looks to grow.

Newbern United Methodist Church — The church is practicing strict COVID-19 preventative measures. Masks are required. All activities are postponed until further notice except for Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. and online Bible study each Wednesday at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Pastor Al White, the church’s transitional pastor, is leading worship and sharing messages that encourage firm foundations of faith in Jesus. Simple church — simply Jesus.

The church has added a time for discipleship growth at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings. There’s always a coffee and donut time downstairs before the morning worship time at 10 a.m.

Petersville United Methodist Church — On Jan. 22, at the 9 a.m. worship service, Pastor Rebecca Milne will bring the message, “Claim Your Vocation.” Scriptures will be from Isaiah 9:4 and Matthew 4:19 and 20. She will emphasize that discipleship may come in many, and sometimes unlikely, forms.

Kathy Bush will serve as worship and song leader; Teresa Covert will give the children’s sermon.

A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow the service.

On Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m., “The Chosen” Bible study will begin in the sanctuary. The group will watch a video, and then move to the fellowship hall for discussion led by the pastor. Any person may attend, and may a bring a snack if they desire.

The annual planning session for the church will be held on Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church. The congregation is invited to attend the meeting and help plan for the future of the Petersville United Methodist Church.

United Methodist Men will not meet again until the first Sunday of March 2023 at 7:15 a.m.

Sandy Hook United Methodist Church — Sandy Hook United Methodist Church gathers weekly for in-person and online worship. The church will offer two services on Sunday, Jan. 22 — the traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and the contemporary service at 11 a.m. Pastor Paul Dazet will bring a message about “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” as part of the new sermon series “Who Are You?”

Nursery is available for children 2 and younger from 8:30 a.m. through the end of second service. Sunday school is offered for all ages between the two services.

Jan. 22 will be a Mega Youth Group Night. This will be youth from First UMC, Sandy Hook UMC and First Presbyterian. This month the meeting is at First UMC from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Any youth are welcome.

Jan. 29 is the Underground worship and story night. This is a Fresh Expression church forming in Columbus. The first of the monthly hourlong gatherings for worship and stories is at Sandy Hook UMC at 6 p.m.

St. Paul Episcopal Church — On Jan 22, the celebrant at the 10:15 a.m. worship service is Priest in Charge, the Rev. Aelred Bernard Dean.

The church is celebrating its 175th Anniversary in 2023. Established in 1848, the church has continuously served this community. In celebration of the occasion a new bell tower has been built housing the bell that has rung since 1893 announcing the beginning time of church services, funerals, and saying the Lord’s Prayer. Each month during the year, the church will be recognizing the history of the church with many guest speakers and special music.
