Karen L. Dow, 63, of Columbus, passed from this life Friday, January 20, 2023, at Brown County Health and Living Community.
Karen was born in Shelbyville, Indiana, October 12, 1959, to parents Kenneth and Dixie Dow. She grew up at Wood Lake and often reminisced about fun times with friends in the neighborhood.
Karen graduated from Columbus North High School and also Ivy Tech Community College with a computer programming degree. She spent much of her career working in the IT department at Arvin Industries. She was a member of East Columbus Christian Church. She cherished time with family and her beloved cats. She had a gentle spirit and loved doing things for others and seeing them happy.
Karen is survived by her mother, Dixie; brother, David Dow; sister, Lori (John) Lucas; nephews, Denver (Renee) Woods and Dakota Dow and his fiancé, Sabrina Cline; great-niece, Lillie Woods; and a great-nephew, Oliver Cline.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Dow and a nephew, Fisher K. Lucas.
A remembrance of Karen’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Ron Bridgewater will officiate. Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Cremation will take place following the funeral service and private inurnment will take place at the Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or East Columbus Christian Church Ladies Fellowship.
