East downs Dragons

SELLERSBURG — Columbus East broke a 12-12 tie by outscoring Silver Creek 26-14 in the second quarter and went on to post a 69-52 road victory.

Saige Stahl led the Olympians (9-12) with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Allison Craig and Maeleigh Roberts each scored 11 points, Leah Bachmann had 10 points and six rebounds and Messiah Trapp added nine points, six rebounds and six assists.

“I think it was our best road game of the year,” East coach Danny Brown said.

Tindley edges Crusaders

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus Christian rallied from a 37-27 deficit after three quarters, but fell just short in a 50-48 loss at Tindley.

Sarah Lorimor led the Crusaders (13-5) with 23 points. Madi Blair added seven.

Panthers rout Highlanders

NORTH VERNON — Julian Woodard scored a career-high 41 points to lead Jennings County to a 71-47 Hoosier Hills Conference win against Floyd Central.

Maddie McIntosh had nine points, and Mollie Ernstes added seven for the Panthers (16-5, 4-2).

Eagles top Spartans

SHELBYVILLE — Brown County jumped out to a 20-5 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 73-47 win at Southwestern (Shelby).

Ava Stogsdill led the Eagles (11-9)with a career-high 34 points. Lexie Austin scored nine, and Katie Tipton added eight.

East sweeps Pirates

GREENSBURG — Columbus East swept a dual meet at Greensburg, winning the boys contest 111-59 and the girls meet 114-44.

With diving not being contested on Tuesday, Gabbie Meier entered two swimming events and won the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 16.31 seconds) and 500 freestyle (6:04.71), while Josie Havenaar took the 50 freestyle (28.18) and 100 breaststroke (1:21.35) to lead the girls. Cassidy Furnish captured the 200 individual medley (2:35.61), Kira VanValkenburg won the 100 butterfly (1:13.83), Ali Trueblood took the 100 backstroke (1:16.75) and the Olympians captured the 400 freestyle relay (4:28.57).

Brady Beyer led the boys with wins in the 100 freestyle (51.90) and 100 backstroke (58.69). Other individual winners were Todd Hundley in the 200 freestyle (1:58.32), Judah Nickoll in the 200 IM (2:15.54), Cavan Stilson in the 500 freestyle (5:19.76) and Misha Machavariani in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.24). East also swept the 200 medley (1:45.73), 200 freestyle (1:35.80) and 400 freestyle (3:46.27) relays.

Columbus Christian took a 70-63 loss to Legacy Elite Academy.

Jordan Burton led the Crusaders (11-13) with 16 points. Noah Edwards scored 13, Cam Pritchard and Branson Carr each had nine and Jacob Bell and Peyton Walden each added eight.
