Ben Sylva // Columbus East senior basketball player

Sylva led the Olympians with 17 points in a 63-48 loss at Mooresville and with 24 points in Saturday’s 89-54 loss to Jeffersonville.

His performance last week: “I just went out and played to the best of my ability. We obviously tried to get a win, but it didn’t happen. My mindset was that we have to play the hardest, win or lose.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I try not to eat four hours before a game, and in warmups, I try to get as many shots up as I can.”

Favorite drink: “Mountain Dew”

Favorite food: “Mac ‘n cheese”

Favorite class: “Business Management”

Favorite sports team: “Kentucky”

Favorite athlete: “LeBron James.”

Role model: “My uncle, Cory Brandt.”

Best advice: “No matter the score, just go and play your hardest.”

Athletics goal: “To play college basketball next year.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Paris. It’s always a place I’ve wanted to go.”

Kennedy Horn // Columbus North sophomore basketball player

Kennedy Horn

Horn scored a career-high 15 points in a 57-51 win against Silver Creek and added eight points in Friday’s 46-36 win over Bloomington North.

Her performance last week: “I was super proud that I finally came out of my shell a little bit and was aggressive and was confident and performed well.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I usually just listen to some music and be with my friends.”

Favorite drink: “Body Armor”

Favorite food: “Fruit”

Favorite class: “I like my Biomed class.”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University”

Favorite athlete: “Ali Patberg”

Role model: “My grandpa (Dave Horn).”

Best advice: “You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.”

Athletics goal: “I would like to play basketball or volleyball in college.”

If you could travel anywhere: “I really want to go somewhere in Europe like Italy because it’s beautiful.”
