Icemen Varsity get victories vs. Vipers, Valparaiso

A few Columbus hockey teams were in action last weekend, including the Columbus Icemen Varsity, who went 2-0-1.

The Icemen Varsity beat the Fort Wayne Vipers 2-1 and Valparaiso 11-0 and tied Munster 4-4. Cadan Graham netted three goals and four assists; John Ferguson recorded three goals and two assists; River Degner notched two goals and two assists; Caleb McGhehey tallied two goals and one assist; Alex Clark had one goal and five assists; John Merritt and Dane Weinzapfel each added one goal and three assists; Will Kushner had one goal and one assist; Cole Finney, Kennedy Miller and Eduardo Aranda all scored one goal; Drew Weed had two assists and Calijah Kenney added one assist. Jake McMullen was in net one game, and Ben Blanz was in net two games.

Columbus Icemen Prep fell to Penn Black and 14-0 and played HES Prep 8-2. Jaden Pagan scored two goals, and Noah Dornfield had one assist. Sydney Morrow was in net.

Columbus Flames Bantam A swept Indian Hill 4-0 and won 5-2. River Degner netted two goals and two assists, Drew Weed recorded two goals and one assist, Sawyer Patterson scored two goals, Eddie Aranda notched one goal and three assists, Ayden Richardson tallied one goal and one assist, Tyler Teague scored one goal and Carter Kareus and Ashton Nguyen each added one assist. Lane Barringer was in net.

Columbus Flames Peewee AA played Junior Fuel Black and won 7-2 both games. Brooks Larsh netted five goals and three assists, Logan Barringer recorded two goals and four assists, Carter Davis notched two goals and two assists, Max Perez scored two goals, Maddox Coy and Ethan Neumann each tallied one goal and two assists, Henry Schloemer scored one goal, Kai Bergmann had three assists, Bentley Hampton contributed two assists and Thomas King and Garrett Uy each added one assist. Canyon Long was in net, saving 17 of 21 shots for a save percentage of 80.9%.

Columbus Flames Squirt AA lost to Louisville Ice Cardinals AA 4-1 and 4-0, beat Indy Junior Fuel Red 4-1 and fell to the Junior Fuel Red 3-2. Dalton Larsh scored four goals; Avery Orgass netted three goals; Daniel Wallace and Carsen Sims each had two assists and Thomas Degner, Nolan Bush and Colton Pepmeier all added one assist. Cayden Long was in net, saving 88 of 100 shots for a save percentage of 88%.

Earl gets three hat tricks

Three players recorded hat tricks last week to lead Our Name Is Earl to a 9-2 win against Toyota Tsunamis in the Colubmus Broomball League.

Darren Eckerly, Ellie Lutz and Noah Marsh all netted three goals for Earl (6-4). Dalton McNealy and Greg McNealy scored for Tsunamis (1-9).

Monsters of Rock remained atop the standings at 8-1-1 with a 4-0 win against Jennings County BC (1-9). Ben Eckhart had two goals, and Tyler Rashand Katelyn Perera each added one.

Hansons edged CCA 4-3. Matt Psota and Rahul Bhardwaj each scored twice for Hansons (7-2-1). Ricky Hooten had two goals, and Shawn Bauman added one for CCA (6-4).
