ELIZABETHTOWN, INDIANA
Juanita F. Swengel, 80, of Elizabethtown, Indiana, passed from this life at 4:27 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2023, at the home of her daughter in Fishers, Indiana.
Mrs. Swengel was born in Frankfort, Kentucky, April 26, 1942, the loving daughter of the late Franklin and Gladys Sanders Mitchell. On Christmas eve, 1958, Juanita married Charles T. Swengel Sr.; he preceded her in death September 25, 2021.
Mrs. Swengel was a beautician for over 40 years. She enjoyed reading, watching her husband play softball, cooking, housekeeping and playing lottery scratch offs. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and she had a special knack for telling old stories. Mrs. Swengel will be remembered as a loving, generous, and funny person.
Survivors include her children, Daniel Swengel of Elizabethtown and Cindy (David) McMath of Fishers; grandchildren, Robert Swengel, Kathryn McMath, and Benjamin McMath; step-granddaughter, Miranda Beeman; step-great-grandson, Ezra Beeman; brother, Gary (Carlotta) Mitchell of Louisville; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mrs. Swengel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; son, Charles T. Swengel Jr.; and brothers, Eugene and Michael Mitchell.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Evan Bever will officiate. A live stream of the funeral service can be seen at barkesweaverglick.com.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Swengel will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Garland Brook Cemetery.
