Newell leaving East principal job to become McDowell Education Center director

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. has announced another major administrative change.

Columbus East Principal Mark Newell will take over as the Director of Adult and Alternative Education at the McDowell Education Center on July 1. The school board approved his appointment at a meeting on Monday.

McDowell houses a variety of programs, including alternative education, adult education, the Bright Beginnings Early Learning Center, English Language Learner services and C4’s Cosmetology pathway.

Newell will take the place of current director Megan Shaff, who is set to become BCSC’s new Director of Title Services.
